Baking & Chocolate Festival

On October 11-14, it is time for the Baking & Chocolate Festival, which is expected to attract around 90 exhibitors and 40,000 visitors this year. One of the highlights is as usual the prestigious competition The pastry cook of the Year, where this year is only girls in the final. Among the news is the Roy Fares Trophy, a baking contest for children led by just Roy Fares, or “Mr Cake” as he calls himself now.

Here are some of the highlights of this year’s Baking & Chocolate Festival:

This year’s pastry cook will be a girl

All of the year’s five finalists in the prestigious competition The pastry cook of the year is girls, so the best woman must win! The competition, which is the Swedish championship for professional confectioners, will celebrate 30th anniversary this year, which will be marked in different ways. This year’s competition theme is “Tivoli” and is divided into four parts: Cake, Sweet fingerfood, Tallriksdessert and a Secret moment.

Sweden’s most creative cupcake is crowned in the Roy Fares Trophy

The Roy Fares Trophy is a baking contest for children aged 10 to 15 who is preparing to bake the tastiest, most fun and creative cupcake. A jury with Roy “Mr Cake” Fares assesses all contributions, of which six go on to the big final for thousands of visitors Saturday, October 13th.

My best pastries – fun contest for home bakers

Through home and social media, all home recipients have been able to submit their contest grants in different classes since May. The month winners make up in the finals held during the fair, where the first prize is a personal cake course with one of Sweden’s best confectioners, Magnus Johansson.

Bake with the professionals in Baklabbet

In Baklabbet, visitors to the fair have the opportunity to bake together with some of Sweden’s most famous bakers, this year among others Gustav Mabrouk and Mia Öhrn, who share their tips and trix. The baklabbet has two areas, one for experience home bakers and one for curious beginners. Best of all, is that you may bring everything you bake with you home!
