A self-absorbed mother and a sick daughter who wants to love each other

By on January 24, 2018

Ann Petrén and Sofia Ledarp perform the role of mother and daughter in Björn Runge’s life-giving and humorous drama, first performance on the Small Stage January 27th. Ann Petrén and Björn Runge have collaborated several times earlier, among other things won Ann two gold beetles for her roles in Om jag vänder mig om (2003) and Happy End (2011) – both directed by Björn who won two gold beetles for the former.

– It’s really inspiring to work with Björn again. There is some humor in the material that I think suits me and Sofia very well, despite the difficulty and the seriousness, there is hope for our characters, says Ann Petrén.

Miriam is on her way to the hospital for treatment and on the way she visits her mother Claire who operated the hip.
Claire talks mostly about herself, about her life, about her age, about quitting smoking. That Miriam has cancer becomes like a parenthesis, something she does not really take in.
But Miriam has decided – both to survive and to touch her mother. Their meetings when Miriam is on her way to and from the hospital changes their relationship in depth.
